About jessica

I am and will always be a creator of art. All creations beautiful, ugly, colorful, extreme, precise, or messy… they fascinate me. Growing up in the desert of Arizona has helped me to appreciate the beauty in things that seem dull, dry, or predictable. As a child, my identity would lie in my ability to see what others do not and rendering those things to paper with the use of paint. Art was always my escape. As I grew into young adulthood, I needed to make a decision as to which direction I would take for a career. Becoming a teacher came naturally. Gifts are meant to be shared, discussed, and celebrated. Teaching children what goes through my head as I am creating has lent me the opportunity to do just that. An artist’s organic thought processes as they are creating is something that children are drawn to naturally. This has been an incredible gift that has been bestowed upon me.
I create art because it is a beautiful and glorious reflection of the ultimate Creator. It brings me exceptional joy, confidence and peace. I believe that we are all equipped with an innate ability to do something that glorifies what’s closest to our hearts. Each day, sometimes each hour, I am inspired by a spark of emotion, an “ah-ha” moment, or even another living being that resides alongside me here on Earth. These inspirations are translated into my work.
I create a variety of artworks, many of which are on the spectrum of abstract, surrealism, and realist representation. My primary medium of choice is watercolor, but many of my paintings feature other media like acrylic, gouache, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, and archival ink pens. I enjoy experimenting with different types of paper as well the relationship between water and pigment.

I create watercolor paintings for people who feel a connection to the animal world beyond the realm of what is seen. I do this because we all have something in common: we have the same Creator.

My paintings reveal the relationship between people, animals, and our surroundings. They bring to light just how similar we all are. My inspiration is not manifested from within. I am simply, each day, gifted with a thought or idea that presents itself to me. I am, quite frankly, an artistic facilitator of divine, beautiful, and chaotic, yet harmonized, concepts.
